Lauren Chappell in Suzanne Neville La Verite

Lauren occupies a unique place in Miss Bush folklore. Not only did she dare to wear the most outrageously fabulous boots known to womankind and sport a monochrome theme down to the tips of her manicure – Daniel, Lauren’s husband re-proposed to her at Miss Bush…

Not happy with how the first proposal went – Daniel phoned us to arrange a surprise for Lauren on her first visit to Miss Bush. Duly the team arranged bubbles and glasses and happily the second answer was still yes!

Lauren’s vocation as a designer of wedding stationery has inspired every last detail of the wedding and you can get in touch with her to organise your very own bespoke, handmade designs at Wedding Ink

A few words from Lauren

“I know you were very much interested in seeing some pictures of the Black and Ivory Suzanne Neville dress… it did look really beautiful on the day and my husband said WOW when I got to the altar. We truly had a fairytale wedding day.

Thank you so much for making buying a wedding dress a wonderful, effortless and fun experience. Please pass on my kindest regards to Corrine, Jen and the whole team.”

Jade Peake in Maggie Sottero Malina

I have had a lot of beautiful images zooming into my inbox recently but perhaps some of my favourites are from brides that have worn our Maggie Sottero dresses. Why Maggie Sottero can’t get themselves a decent stylist and not have Playboy Mansion evictees modelling their dresses I will never know.

They are simply the best dress at their price point by a mile, several miles. Yes, they are imported, yes you have to follow their delivery deadlines to the day but goodness me aren’t the dresses worth it. It is just an absolute shame that they can’t get a bit Pronovias on their campaign images. After all the dresses are all made in the same places.

Therefore I will continue to show Miss Bush’s stunning brides – no more so than Jade here – wearing Maggie Sottero as they should be seen. Expertly cut, a superb fit , amazing exclusive fabrics and Jade herself looking every bit the picture perfect bride.

A quick word from Jade

“Hi,

I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your help leading up to the wedding and with the fittings of my dress and the help with the bridesmaids dresses. I have recommended you to lots of my friends as I have such good experiences with you through the whole of our organising…My dress fitted perfect on the day as did the girls and it absolutely the best day of my life so far.

Big thanks again for everything especially to Corinne and Jen! x

Suzanne Neville Event at Miss Bush HQ

Back on a chilly Thursday in December Miss Bush hosted a Suzanne Neville Designer Day. It was a perfect seasonal treat for brides; beautiful dresses, wonderfully inspired styling by Steph from Fairynuff Flowers, a white sweet buffet from Creative Candi and yummy cakes from Sugar. Oh – there may have been a glass or two of Prosecco too.

Alice Gilchrist nee Harrison in Jesus Peiro

I have just arrived back from a wedding industry meeting a spent a long while talking to Peta Hunt, Editor-at-Large of You and Your Wedding magazine. I have always loved editorial shoots style by Peta but she today admitted she could never be a bridalwear buyer as every dress she would stock would have long sleeves.

Well Peta Alice’s photos will be perfect for you. One of my all time favourite dresses given a celtic spin with an amazing Polly Edwards headpiece. simple dress scottish wedding“Hi Emma and Jen,
Hope you both are well.  I wanted to write post wedding and thank you so much for your help and support in choosing and getting my wedding dress ready for the big day.  We had such a wonderful day on the 29th September up in Scotland and I loved wearing my dress.  I don’t think I can actually believe that it’s all over and I won’t get to wear it again, well in public anyway!

My mum and I really enjoyed our trips to Miss Bush for my appointments.  Throughout the whole process we felt well supported and found your advice really helpful.  This was very re-assuring as things started to get a bit stressful as the date got closer and we started to wonder if it will all work out!  It was the perfect dress and I never questioned whether I had chosen the right one!

I have attached a few photos to show you all the hard work paid off!!

Thanks again and I have already recommended you to my friends that are getting married next year!

Kind Regards,

Alice Gilchrist (nee Harrison!)”

Controversy & Couture at Fetcham

You all know I have attended and held several events at Parallel Venues Fetcham Park. This week I am visiting my fabulous ‘second home’ several times.

Today I am off to a meeting set up in the wake of the Designer Wedding Show’s demise to meet the new owner and have a general state of the nation forum with the great, good and genius of the wedding industry.

Several factors impacting on bridal retail abound. From the rumoured arrival in the UK of David’s Bridal a behemoth of a US chain of bridal retail stores to the undercutting and supply to TK Maxx by some of the UK’s longest established bridal & accessory brands. This week misinformation and ignorance has crept back in to some wedding blogs whilst others have demonstrated their fine and loyal support to British design and retail.

Another one of my competitors has announced it’s closure – another one of the ‘good guys.’

Fetcham Park, run by Laura Caudery, a relative new kid on the block, has shown what can be achieved by verve, flair and enthusiasm backed up by a solid business background.  Laura has taught me much about the fabulousness of collaborations and building cross-discipline partnerships. Today will be another learning curve – I will report back!

More excitingly though brides-to-be (to whom a trade meeting must look as exciting a widget conference) what are we doing at Fetcham Park for you???

Wedding Photography Pop Up With Juliet McKee – 16th February 2013

Miss-BushSurrey wedding photographer and Miss Bush favourite Juliet McKee, will be in store on the 16th February to meet brides still looking for the right photographer to capture their big day.

Juliet has a contemporary style and a relaxed approach that instantly sets her couples at ease. She is also the photographer behind  many memorable, dare I say iconic Miss Bush styled shoots and ad images and has photographed several of our brides’ big days.

Recently even I have been at the ‘wrong’ end of the camera – having engaged Juliet to record a family party. I absolutely treasure the images, sensitively shot and gently edited to provide a lasting legacy for my family.

Loseley-park-wedding“I  love photographing Miss Bush brides, the shop attracts  stylish self assured brides with very definite ideas about their photography. They know the look and feel they want,  and it’s my job to work in close partnership with each couple so that ultimately they are thrilled with the end results.

From our first meeting, through to a fun engagement shoot, and eventually the big day itself, my job is to capture the fun, the love, the details as well as the intimate moments,  and of course the celebration with friends and family. For me it’s all about telling a story and capturing every last detail. Those images will help  evoke wonderful memories for many years to come.”

Juliet will be on hand to chat with you about anything relating to wedding photography and you can have a browse through a selection of her work. I am also hoping she will bring her camera to capture some candit shots for a new project I have in mind!

Shiva Abbassi wearing New York label Tara Keely

I have an extreme fondness for tulle. Pronounced, approximately ‘chool, ‘ it conjures up all kinds of romantic and decadent imagery from Degas to Margot Fonteyn. Sarah Jessica Parker to Taylor Swift. It precedes the over use of the  ghastly word ‘meringue.’ It evokes romance at its most decadent and capricious. Handled sensitively the soft fragile looking layers give softness and drama to a dress. Simple balletic dresses have always been a favourite look of mine for the Miss Bush collections and my current favourites are from JLM Couture label Tara Keely.  Contemporary New York meets 50s Dior wrapped up and customised by Miss Bush

Here is a couple of images from Shiva, who wore style 2161, in tulle and organza customised with a pure silk duchesse sash. A few words of praise for Corinne and Gen…

“I hope you are both well and enjoying the New Year…The photographer took hardly any full length shots, which is a real shame,  but I have managed to find a few for you.

Thank you again for the effort and time you put into helping me find a dress… everyone LOVED the dress!!”
