At a push I am just old enough to be Carolanne’s Mum. Sharon Roberts, bridal hair guru, joked with Carolanne that there would be three MOBs helping her to get ready for her wedding. On the day it seemed like it. The reality was Carolanne’s Mum, Sharon & I tucking into Bollinger whilst debating the positioning of hair flowers in the luxurious surroundings of Fetcham Park.

It wasn’t until I handed Carolanne over to her Mother at the top of the stairs I realised this wasn’t a styled shoot, a rehearsal, an event. This was the real thing. Misty-eyed I ran the familiar back route down the less glamorous staircase accompanied by Laura Caudery, owner of Fetcham Park to take my seat and watch a romantic story move on to its next chapter.

To the outside observer Fetcham Park may look very grand, indeed it is. It is, however, so familiar to me, to the ‘team’ of Carolanne, Sharon, Gayle, Emma W, Juliet  & I, it feels like being exactly what it is – a friend’s house.

MOBs, post wedding are almost like new Mums again. Sporting snaps & iPhone pictures there are many and varied excuses for whipping out the boasting books. I feel like this about Carolanne’s wedding. “Isn’t the love story perfect? Aren’t the photos beautiful? Stunning venue? Wasn’t the dress a dream? Have you ever seen flowers like these? How gorgeous is her hair & make up? How stylish, how intimate?”

Like all weddings there were a couple of hic-ups. I’m not sure I was supposed to drink Bollinger all day, I am fairly certain there were some pots of tea I didn’t find. I can also confirm I deserted Tim, Carolanne’s brother,  mid-Ceilidh as my marinated mind couldn’t retain the first instruction regarding steps & I’ve always struggled with the left/right concept.

From left to right Laura Caudery, Juliet McKee, Me, Carolanne Berry, Sharon Roberts, Emma Woodhouse & Gayle Evans. If you like what you’ve seen these fine women and me are some of the finest exponents of their craft & I would recommend each of them in an instant.
