Hello! We’re delighted to share a stunning winter wedding with you today, which took place in December last year. Emily and Phil were married at The Nash Conservatory in Kew Gardens, followed by a fun and relaxed reception at Westminster Boating Base, Pimlico. We hope you enjoy seeing the gorgeous images by photographer John Alexander and hearing all about their day.

The Dress

Emily wore Jesus Peiro 6066, a beautiful contemporary wedding dress with sweetheart neckline, exposed Chantilly lace bodice and a pleated mikado tulip skirt. Emily customised her gown with the addition of some longer lace sleeves to suit the chilly December evening.

Emily tells us more;

“I chose a Jesus Peiro dress- I love the style of these dresses and particularly loved the spotty lace detail. As I was having a winter wedding, I was able to tweak the style a bit to include long sleeves. This was especially helpful in hiding the huge scar that happened as a result of me breaking my arm and needing surgery 4 months before the wedding…”

“I am lucky enough to have had an amazing bunch of bridesmaids who all came to a dress trying on session at some point before I chose my dress.

Two of my bridesmaids, Helena and Amanda, helped me choose ‘the one’. Helena even took the day off work to come with me for my final fitting. That is true friendship!!”

“Honestly, I was apprehensive about the whole process before I’d tried anything on. Having been to a couple of places before, I actually felt a bit underwhelmed by it all.

After going to Miss Bush, I felt happy and positive. Emma was the one who helped me with my initial trying on session, and really just made the experience stress free and fun! The chapel at Miss Bush is just so beautiful too.”

Emily accessorised her dress with beautiful sparkly Charlotte Mills shoes to match her gold bridesmaids dresses and a stunning statement headpiece;

“My bridesmaids dresses were gold and glittery, so I wanted to choose my shoes to match them in some way. I fell in love with a pair Charlotte Mills heels with a sparkly gold bow and glittery gold heels.

I also wore a Luxe Buffalo big gold leafy hair piece and berry red lipstick.”

About the day

Emily and Phil’s day was fun and festive, and the main goal was to ensure that their friends and family had a fabulous time with a brilliant party!

Emily tells us more;

“We wanted to have a London-based wedding with lots of fun festive elements but essentially wanted to just have a big party with friends and family.

I grew up in London and my mum works at Kew Gardens, so this was a perfect place to have the ceremony. It was perfect for our pre-Christmas December wedding!

Phil loves boats and the river, so getting a boat up the Thames to Westminster Boating Base for the reception was great fun and (we think) a fairly unique element. The guests didn’t know about this bit either which was fun for us to surprise them.”

“One of highlights has got to be seeing the wedding cake. Each layer was baked by some very important people – my mother-in-law Andrea, my university friends, and my schools friends. The final masterpiece was thought up and arranged/decorated by my hugely talented friend Jo, who decorated it in gold and it even has a golden snitch hidden at the back (perfect for a Harry Potter superfan…)”

Final Words

Some words of wedding advice from our bride, Emily;

“I think I did well not to become a bridezilla, although Phil may disagree!!

One of the things I learned from the whole process was how much my friends and family mean to me.

I would say, try to enjoy every moment, from the engagement right up until the big day.

I loved it so much I have now started to consider a wedding planning business as a hobby!!”
