THE DRESS

Style 7016 by Jesus Peiro is a sleek, contemporary crepe wedding dress with a bias cut and plunging neckline at the front and back.

Hannah tells us more;

“It was the total opposite of what I thought I’d go for! I absolutely love lace, and Spanish style dresses, and so was convinced I’d end up in something with lots of lace detail, probably with a matching lace edged cathedral veil. Well, as you’ll see from our pictures, the look I ended up with couldn’t have been more different! This dress was probably around the 7th or 8th I’d tried on (3rd or 4th at Miss Bush), and there was just something about it – I thought about it all the way home. It was just super simple, sophisticated and sexy, and perfect for the grown-up party vibe we wanted to create at our wedding. As soon as I picked the dress, it felt like the overall look and feel of the wedding really took shape in my mind.”

“My Mum, and my two close friends and bridesmaids Cathy and Cara were with me when I found the dress. When I tried it on in the fitting room I said to Corinne that I didn’t think my Mum was going to like it as it’s very low cut at the front – but I walked out and they all absolutely LOVED it!

I just loved Miss Bush from the first visit. It’s so unlike other wedding boutiques – Emma, Corinne and her team are normal people who treat you like a normal person, and it doesn’t feel like you’ve stepped into some parallel ‘wedding’ universe (so they are sensible about budget, for example). The team have clearly got a brilliant eye as every dress in there is gorgeous – I could have bought about five, but they restrained me (see point one!) The boutique is so beautiful with its changing floral displays and scented candles – I struggled to tear myself away every time I visited. And finally even when I did have a mini-meltdown over some hemming (it was the week before the wedding, in my defence), everyone was so helpful and understanding. Honestly couldn’t have picked a better place to find my dress – thank you!”

“Once I’d settled on a simple and sophisticated dress, I wanted to stick to simple but bold accessories (encouraged by Emma who advised me to avoid anything too small or twee). So I limited my accessories to one standout deco-style bespoke headpiece from Gillian Million, principally made up of crystal and tiny pearls, and a pair of super-sparkly Jimmy Choos!”

ABOUT THE DAY

Hannah tells us all about her relaxed, chilled and contemporary Babington House wedding;

We wanted to have quite an ‘unweddingy’ wedding. We have got a little girl, Bay, who was 14 months at the time of the wedding, and we’re both in our mid-thirties, so it felt a bit weird to have a massive formal do. Instead we decided we wanted to have the best, most stylish party ever, obviously with all our favourite people there! And like us, most of our friends have at least one small child in their lives, so it just felt like the perfect opportunity for us all to put the washable fabrics and baby wipes to one side, and actually get to be proper uber glam grown-ups for once! So there really wasn’t a particular theme – we just picked a really cool, grown-up venue, asked people to dress glam and come and have a really amazing time, and we tried to do the same!”

“My two favourite moments were: the wedding ceremony itself, which was actually a bit of a surprise, as we had both I think dismissed it as the ‘boring official’ bit. But our vicar was a really cool guy who really put us at ease, and we were actually a little taken back at how emotional a moment it was. The second best part of the day was the dinner – it was just the most brilliant atmosphere in the Orangery at Babington. 90 of our closest family and friends tucking into amazing food and drink, listening to some speeches which managed to be both touching and hilarious all at the same time.”

FINAL WORDS

Some words of wedding planning wisdom from our bride, Hannah;

“Simply THE BEST piece of advice anyone gave me, from my fabulous friend Cathy. Write a handover note of everything that needs to be done on the day itself and delegate to one or more people – being very clear about what’s needed. Then forget about it and trust they’ll do what’s needed – and you can properly enjoy the day you have spent months planning.”
