Happy Saturday! We’re delighted to share a beautiful Surrey wedding with you today, with Miss Bush bride Katharine looking incredible in her Suzanne Neville wedding gown. The elegant, traditional wedding was held at Great Fosters in Egham and was photographed by Miki Photography.

THE DRESS

Katharine wore Suzanne Neville’s Cabianca gown; a stunning ballgown style wedding dress with a romantic full organza skirt and strapless fitted bodice finished with a delicate lace overlay and satin belt.

Katharine tells us all about finding her dress;

“I visited Miss Bush twice – the first visit was just with my mum. I had seen a couple of dresses on the website that I liked, but had no idea what styles would suit me. I left after the first visit feeling fairly certain that I had narrowed my choice down to two dresses.”

“My second visit was with my mum and my two bridesmaids, with the purpose of choosing between the two dresses I had liked from my first visit. I tried them both on again, and realised that I’d changed my opinion on them both. A couple of new Suzanne Neville dresses had arrived the day before so Corinne suggested that I try them on – and I found The One! Cabianca felt so special when I tried it on, it’s such an elegant dress. The reaction from everyone was unanimous which gave me confidence that it was the right one, so I made the decision then and there!”

“Corinne made the experience feel very relaxed yet special – you can tell that the whole team love what they do and it shows in how they treat the brides-to-be, from the first visit through to the final fitting. There was no pressure, which made me feel comfortable enough to try on some styles that I would never have thought to… and that is how I came to choose the stunning Suzanne Neville Cabianca!”

ACCESSORIES

“I wore my hair up, with a long veil edged in Russian braid. I splashed out on some beautiful champagne coloured Jimmy Choos (no one could see them under my dress, but I knew they were there!)

I kept my jewellery very simple as the dress was fairly extravagant on its own. I wore a very simple diamond necklace which had been a birthday present from my parents, and a delicate diamond bracelet that Nick gave me on the morning of the wedding.”

ABOUT THE DAY

In keeping with the country house environment, Katharine and Nick’s day was elegant and classic, with the additional of some personal details to make the day unique and special. Katharine tells us more;

“We did not have a set theme in mind, but we knew that we wanted a fairly traditional day in a beautiful venue. We had a lot of overseas guests who seemed to appreciate the English country house feel to the day, and we were very fortunate with the weather – it was one of sunniest days of the year which meant that we could have the drinks reception in the gardens. As we had so many overseas guests that we don’t get to see very often, we made time in the day for us to socialise and speak with everyone, so the whole day had a very relaxed feel. We put a lot of thought into personal touches – we both love Formula 1, so we named the tables after F1 circuits, and the place names were Formula 1-shaped biscuits with guests’ names iced on them.”

“We were both quite anxious before the day, as neither of us like being the centre of attention, but we both enjoyed every second of it! As soon as I walked down the aisle and saw Nick I knew that it was going to be an amazing day. The ceremony was quite emotional as we had written our own vows, so to stand up in front of our friends and families and read them out was a very special moment.

It was the first time in years that so many of Nick’s family had been together in one place, as most of them live in Australia, so it was an incredible opportunity to get some once-in-a-lifetime family photos across several generations.”

“We had a sit-down dinner in the tithe barn, which was beautifully decorated by our florist, and also by the groomsmen who had many meters of fairy lights to put up before they were allowed to head to the bar! The speeches were brilliant and I’m so pleased that we had a videographer to record them as we have listened back to them several times – they hit the perfect balance of humour and sentimentality.

We had a band and a DJ in the evening, and thankfully took up the option of a late licence! It was lovely to see all our guests enjoying themselves.”

FINAL WORDS

Some words of wedding planning and dress shopping advice from our bride, Katharine;

“When you’re looking for your dress, try and go with an open mind. Your dream dress in a magazine may not suit you! I ended up with a dress that was the total opposite to what I thought I would choose.

Some very specific advice to brides considering a strapless dress… be prepared to be on constant tan-line watch for the months leading up to the wedding!! My husband ended up guessing that my dress was strapless after a couple of holidays of me wearing only either long sleeved tops or strapless bikinis, and refusing to wear my FitBit!”
