Matt and Laureen were married at Elmore Court earlier this year, with Miss Bush bride Laureen wearing a stunning Jesus Peiro wedding gown for their fun and colourful Gloucestershire wedding.

THE DRESS

Made from heavy, high quality crepe in a sleek form fitting silhouette, Jesus Peiro 7029 features sparkling metallic shoulder details, with long sleeves and a stunning open lace panel to the back.

Laureen tells us more about her dress;

“It was so incredibly perfect for me. It couldn’t have been more me if I had drawn it from inside my own head.

My mum, sister and best friend came with me to Miss Bush. It was the first shop I looked at and in hindsight I could have stopped looking there and then. I went away and tried on other dresses at different shops but returned to Miss Bush for a second look at the Jesus Peiro with just my mum and we both knew the first dress i feel in love with was the one for me. It was donned my ‘Star Wars dress’ because it had a strong modern yet ethereal feel to it.”

“Emma made me feel so at ease and was so knowledgeable about body shapes but also style. It was like I mentioned a couple of shops i like and she had my style figured out and picked out dresses that I loved. That just didn’t happen in other shops I visited. I don’t drive and travelled down from London for fitting but it was completely worth it.

The seamstress was also incredible and made the dress fit like a glove. I was fixed on wearing a bra and my dress had a lace back. She worked to find a solution that didn’t involve compromising on the style.”

“Carrying on the gold theme i wore some incredibly fun shoes by Finnish designer Minna Parikka. The were gold bunny eared blocked heeled shoes and I can’t wait to wear them again. I had my hair in loose waves on the day and as the shoulders of my dress were very prominent I wanted to keep my hair and head piece subtle. I choose a delicate headpiece by Debbie Carlisle.”

ABOUT THE DAY

“We didn’t have one key theme other than to maximise laughter and not take anything too seriously. Is that a theme?! Music was a big inspiration and we had two bands playing and playlists put together by Matt and I for the two years running up to the wedding.”

“My dress had amazing embellished shoulders which were a cool-tone gold, and we used this as a loose colour scheme with flecks of golds throughout details of the day. We found an incredible relaxed florist called Saltbox & Co. who did the most beautiful job on our flowers. the brief we gave her was to be a colourful as possible and they surpassed my expectations even sneaking in some gorgeous peppermint into the bouquets – a full sensory experience!”

“I loved every minute of the day but the ceremony was my stand out moment. Neither Matt or I wanted a church wedding but we weren’t keen on a registrar either. We decided very early in our planning stages that we wanted our good friend Toby to officiate the wedding.  A big ask, but luckily he was only too pleased to do it. The three of us worked together on the ceremony and Matt and I wrote our own vows. It was a perfect mix of belly laughs and love. We wanted to incorporate a song into the ceremony to replace the usual hymn. My mum is a big Kenny Rogers fan and Matt and I had watch him at Glastonbury one year and so we decided to sing Islands in the Stream. We had the words printed on the order of service and a friend played it on the guitar. Everybody belted it out and with huge smiles on their face. We kept it a surprise from my mum who sang through her tears.”

“We walked back down the aisle as husband and wife to Candi Staton You Got the Love and it was the best start to the day.”

FINAL WORDS

Some words of wedding planning advice from Laureen;

“Don’t be afraid to follow your gut and do with something different and try not to compare yourself too much to others. I was worried our ceremony would be too alternative for some family in the run up to our wedding and it turns out everyone loved it.

 At the end of the day it’s your wedding and as long as the two of you are happy with it, that’s all that matters.”
