This morning we’re taking you off to the beautiful Zorgvliet Wine estate in South Africa for Lucy and Devlin’s beautiful, natural and elegant wedding.

With Lucy from Scotland and Devlin from South Africa our bride and groom today truly are an international couple. After meeting in London, they got engaged in New York last May and were married 18 months later at this breathtaking wineyard.

The Dress

Lucy choose to wear Jesus Peiro 6000; a sleek, contemporary gown which was the complete opposite of the fitted lacy sleeved gown that she had initially imagined!

2

“I brought my mother and my younger sister Sophie who was also my maid of honour. We had been to about 4-5 bridal shops before coming to Miss Bush and we had always found a dress that I could have worn but no other dresses had ever made us feel it was time to place a deposit. Having tried on endless lace dresses thinking that was what I was after, I came to Miss Bush with a totally open mind and asked Corinne to put me in anything.”

3

“It was actually Sophie who suggested I try on the Jesus Peiro 6000 dress-my initial reaction was negative as I felt a halterneck dress was the completely wrong shape for someone with larger breasts. How wrong I was!

I came out of the dressing room in my dress and my mother’s immediate response was “If you even think about trying anything else on, you are paying for it yourself! You will never find anything more beautiful than that dress!”Sophie was obsessed from the beginning too!”

4

After a fab accessories appointment with our MD Emma, Lucy accessorised her look with a Richard’s Designs chapel length veil with ribbon edge and blusher. She also added the beautiful Tesoro II headpiece in rhodium by Jenny Packham and matching earrings, finished with beautiful bow-topped ‘Jackie’ shoes by Kate Spade.

5

“My favourite part of the dress shopping experience would have to be in that initial appointment when I realised I had found my dream dress and the reactions my mother and sister had to it. I feel at that point it truly began sinking in that I really was going to be a bride and marrying my best friend and soul mate.

We could not have done it without Corinne’s help as she was patient and fantastic – I think she will remember my mother forever for waving her credit card in the air ready to pay as soon as I came out of the dressing room!”

About the Day

With their international romance in mind, Lucy and Devlin had to choose between Scotland and South Africa for their wedding. After visiting venues in both Scotland and South Africa, they agreed upon on a wine farm outside Cape Town, but were keen to incorporate Scottish elements.

7

Fortunately, they had similar ideas in terms of décor and agreed on a theme of Rustic Elegance. The soft, pastel colour palette and pretty floral arrangements worked perfectly against the beautiful backdrop of the Cape skyline.

8

“The day from start to finish was like a dream come true (apart from the distinctly Scottish looking rain in the morning of the wedding). My favourite part though was walking into the chapel and seeing Dev standing at the front looking fantastic in his gorgeous suit. As I got closer, I realised he was crying-exactly the reaction I had been hoping for all along!”

9

“We managed to have some ceilidh dancing which was brilliant fun though sadly finding a ceilidh band in South Africa proved too much of a challenge. We even managed to get our chef to agree to incorporate some haggis into our menu and also our dessert table included Scottish tablet.”

11

“We worked with the most amazing wedding planner, Izandi from I Do 4 U and she helped bring all of our visions to life-we truly could not have done it without her and she took all the stress out of the planning process and the day. From the flowers and decor to the amazing dessert table, we were blown away by it all.”

Final words

Some final words of wedding wisdom from our bride;

“My advice is to keep an open mind-the dream dress you may be looking for could be the complete opposite of what you end up falling in love with. Try on lots of different styles/fabrics/shapes if you don’t find your dress immediately!

14

“I would also suggest keeping your dress as much of a secret as possible-this made it so much more fun and my dress made an even bigger impact on the day as it was so different from what all my friends were expecting me to wear.

In terms of wedding planning, we had it easier by having a wedding planner since our wedding was abroad and I cannot even organise a dinner party but my advice is to not lose sight of why you are getting married and accepting that you may not be able to get/afford everything you start wanting. Simply enjoy every single precious moment especially on the wedding day itself as it is over quicker than you realise!”
