We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been nominated in the Best Wedding Boutique category of The Perfect Wedding Awards!

Best Wedding Boutique

If there is one thing I have learnt from twenty plus years of bridal retailing it  is that ‘best’ is hard to define. ‘Best’ and ‘Award Winning’ titles abound but, in my experience, the best bridal experience is had when a bride finds their kindred spirit in a wedding boutique.

The short list of nominees for the title of Best Boutique truly represents some of the countries greatest, most diverse & groundbreaking retailers. I would like to think that it is just not longevity that has earned Miss Bush a place. I cannot promise that every bride will love us or our taste in dresses but what we have always aimed to do is provide a unique experience. For nearly 27 years Miss Bush has  edited  & stocked the best dresses available in the UK, breaking new labels, showcasing a very personal mix of contemporary bridal wear.

The move to the ‘ The Old Chapel’ this year afforded the most amazing opportunity to redefine Miss Bush. The oldest bridal kid on the wedding block has now had the best face lift. Inspired by our brides choice of venues and the most experiential retail design, the Chapel channels the look of  pared down, high ceilinged  oak barn venues, eclectic mixes of charity shop finds & antiques that reference urban venues and the super-cute  arts & crafts inspiration of the perennial favourite, the village church.

Popularity is a double edged sword, like a theme park in the school holidays, busy is not always the most fun. Wedding shops attract  tourists & sightseers as readily as a London landmark. Saturdays became as much fun as trying to shop in crowds of exchange students wielding iPhones.  Our now private weekend appointments have become secluded and calm, the weekdays extended and tranquil, the fridge is always full .

Ageing makes you appreciate your real & life long friends. Ageing in business is the same; popularity contests and frenetic pace is no longer our motivation. Seeking out kindred spirited brides by  telling our story  and helping them, sartorially, to tell theirs is our goal.

I would love you to vote for us so I can treat Team Bush to a great day out in London and for the recognition of their expertise & professionalism. I would also love it if you voted for them because they are funny, kooky, oozing loveliness and a bit mad. From the control freaks to the senior citizens, the erudite to the numerically challenged and the good, the bad* & the cuddly they are as far from corporate automatons as you could get.

(* none are bad – I just liked the phrase when I wrote it!)

Reader Recognition Award

We’re up against some fierce competition in the Bridal Boutique category, as much as I love what we do the other retailers are worthy adversaries and as deserving of the title.  There is one particular USP Miss Bush has that the competition do not – it is Mrs Mouth-on-a-Stick  me! If you’re a regular reader of the blog (and my guest posts over on Love My Dress) you can also vote for me in the Reader Recognition Award.  Just enter ‘Emma Meek of Miss Bush’ in the final category.  I appreciate this has a fair dollop of cheesiness, cheekiness and is a somewhat ego fueled request. I would love for Team Bush to be treated for their amazing service to our brides, the loyalty to brand Bush and their utter & total competence that allows me the freedom to over share & under-Hoover. It is they that keep the home fires burning while I am crusading round social media righting wrongs with my Robin Hood fixation.
