One might be forgiven for thinking that Miss Bush is all about big-mouth, attention seeking Emma. Au contraire! The only reason I have enough time to write, bait the industry and fan-girl my brides is because I have an amazing team. Apart from brief passing nods I had nothing to do with Xanthe. Corinne was her stylist and the production team worked with Xanthe and Corinne to design and produce her custom French lace top.

Yes, I stalk our brides on Twitter. Yes, I asked for photos – but the praise is all about Team Bush. Xanthe had a JLM Couture dress, Tara Keely style 2161, with a bespoke top by our in-house design team. In Xanthe’s words “the fact that you have such skilled seamstresses and pattern cutters stands out for me – off the rail and bespoke, done!”

The JLM dresses, that I cheekily refer to as Vera-Lite, channel the US trend for dramatic low-backed strapless dresses & high, natural waists. If you poke around the Miss Bush Instagram feed you will see an unwaivering addiction to tulle in all it’s forms. From ballet to boho I can’t get enough.

The seemingly contradictory characteristics of volume and simplicity of dress are matched by Xanthe’s long, silk veil. Is there anything more romantic and steeped in bridal tradition? The sweeping staircase and dramatic entrance are the stuff of dreams.

In case you worry that this is all too civilised and fairytale let me draw your attention to the following statement…

“Not sure there is much hope for my dress, guests stood on it …the bustling sort of ripped as we used safety pins which tore the tulle after vigorous dancing ”

Possibly my favourite bride admission though…

” I am mildly embarrassed that I made my mum and bridesmaids wear no shoes and white gloves to put it on me … and then recall dancing in the rain in the early morning with it on ”

I completely love this. Wedding dresses are for having a ball in. For starting off ‘pristine’ and ending up ‘partied-in’. A slightly trashed dress is the sign of a very good wedding.

One more word of praise for Leah, our social media whizz kid. I am  keen to reach out and meet brides that we love and that love us back. To do this you need to understand how to communicate across all social media & web platforms. Xanthe’s praise for Miss Bush’s web presence belongs to Leah & her ability to give me my beautiful virtual soapbox.

“Loving the (new) website, so easy to navigate and great look- one thing as a bride I noted was, in this social media age, was the lack of web presence bridal boutiques have. I  am a big social media user so found this weird; how could the shop understand me if they were still in the 1960s? “

Thank you Xanthe & Jon for sharing your photos & the ‘other’ thing! 😉

Thank you my 80’s babies  Leah & Corinne for keeping Miss Bush in step with the Millennial marrieds!
