Hello! Our wedding today is a beautiful, romantic Surrey wedding featuring some of our favourite suppliers, which took place at the bride and groom’s local church, followed by a reception at the breathtakingly beautiful Syon Park. Sophie and George were married in September last year and their wedding was a wonderful celebration of their love for one another.

THE DRESS

Sophie wore Suzanne Neville ‘Cezanne’, a classic, elegant and exquisitely made wedding dress with a scalloped lace bodice and full romantic skirt.

Sophie tells us all about her dress choice, and her experience shopping with Miss Bush;

“I loved all of Suzanne Neville’s dresses – they are very romantic and elegant. I am such a fan of all her designs. I had seen ‘Cezanne’ online and thought it was lovely and I was over the moon when I tried it on.

I was with my Mum and Grandmother when I first found the dress and took my bridesmaids back with me to make a final decision. When I walked out of the changing room, I was grinning from ear to ear and their reactions were exactly as I had hoped. They were all full of excitement and it made me feel very confident that I had found ‘the one’.”

“My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was walking into Miss Bush and trying on the lovely dresses! Not only is Miss Bush in a beautiful chapel full of amazing wedding dresses, all the lovely ladies at Miss Bush made me feel so comfortable and Emma put me at ease straight away. I had been warned that wedding dress shopping can be a stressful and daunting experience, but I absolutely loved it and I put that down to everyone at Miss Bush – they made it very enjoyable! Emma was fantastic at pulling out dress that would suit my figure and also something that would work well for our venue and a late September wedding.”

ACCESSORIES

“I bought my veil through Miss Bush. It was by Sassi Holford and had pieces of beautiful lace that really complemented my dress. I wore earrings and a necklace from Ivory & Co and my bracelet was a present I had been given by George last year. The shoes I wore were from Jimmy Choo – they are very sparkly and caught the light beautifully when they peeped out from under my dress!”

ABOUT THE DAY

We asked Sophie to tell us about the inspiration behind her and George’s Surrey wedding day;

“We both grew up in Surrey and wanted to get married close to home. There is a beautiful church around the corner from us in Richmond that we walk past every day and thought that it would be the perfect place for our ceremony. When we went to look around Syon Park for the reception venue, we completely fell in love – it was only the second venue that we saw! We wanted our wedding to have a classic and romantic feel to it and Syon Park gave us exactly that. On the night we got engaged, we went for dinner at a beautiful restaurant in Positano that had only candle light and was decorated with lots of beautiful ivy and roses and we wanted to recreate that atmosphere for the wedding.”

“The whole day was amazing but there are two parts in my mind that stand out in particular. The first was when George and I got into our car after the wedding ceremony and had time to be alone to reflect on what had just happened! We couldn’t wait to get to Syon House were so excited about the rest of the day ahead! My other favourite part of the day was getting to the drinks reception and just being able to see everyone and celebrate with family and friends. It’s the most wonderful feeling being surrounded by all your loved ones!”

FINAL WORDS

Some words of wisdom from our bride, Sophie;

“My advice for new brides is to pick out some styles that you like and also trust the experts to pick out dresses for you – even if you aren’t sure about them on the hanger. They really are brilliant at finding styles that best suit your shape.

The other thing I would say is to try and enjoy the process as much as possible and not to over think all the little decisions as you will drive yourself mad! Try and do the parts of the planning that you can do in advance to avoid any last minute panics.

Finally I would say that on the day itself to soak up every moment – the day goes so quickly and it’s so important to ensure that you are enjoying yourself and taking everything in!”
