Our real bride blog post today happened very close to home indeed, with local girl Tory marrying her beau Jonny at Ockham church, followed by a reception at her family home just minutes away from Miss Bush. Tory & Jonny’s photographer Charlie Campey captured the day wonderfully, and it’s a delight to show off some of the local area in all its beauty – the perfect setting for a stylish, elegant wedding day.

The couple also experienced some typical drizzly English weather for their day, but they didn’t let that stand in the way of their day, and ended up with some stunning rainy-day images as a result.

THE DRESS

Tory wore 7000 by Jesus Peiro; a clean, contemporary minimalist dress with a deconstructed bow to the waist and elegant, stylish open square back.

Tory tells us more;

“I chose the Jesus Piero 7000, with a petticoat underneath to give it some extra something. I always knew I wanted something quite simple classic that would never feel outdates. I always had a shape in mind and the moment I saw the JP range I knew that it was for me. When I asked my husband to describe to me what type of dress he thought I would go for he got it spot on – high neck, low back, classic, simple!”

“I bought my Mum and my Granny with me to the first appointment. It was hard as they just loved everything. It was when I tried the veil on where the tears started flowing!

It was a very surreal experience. Miss Bush has been down the road from our family home for as long as I can remember, and I always knew I wanted to get my dress from there. It was a very special being in the beautiful old chapel, which we had to ourselves and just walking around picking out the most beautiful dresses from around the shop. The environment and the Miss Bush team made it all feel so special.”

“The dress was very simple, and I didn’t want to ruin that clean look with too many accessories. I always knew I would wear a veil, and paired the dress with a really simple satin trimmed double layered veil. Then I just wore a pair of my Granny’s pearl earrings, which, which complemented the crisp white of the dress, and a beautiful amethyst ring and matching bracelet that belonged to my great grandmother. Jonny gave me a beautiful locket on the morning of the wedding which I also wore underneath the dress. Was really pleased with how it all came together.”

ABOUT THE DAY

As we mentioned earlier, Tory is a Ripley local, with her family home located just minutes away from our boutique. She tells us all about the day;

“I always knew I wanted to have the reception at my family’s home in Ripley, which has a beautiful old Tudor barn in the garden. I will always remember watching a video of my mum getting ready at my grandmother’s dressing table and thinking that I would love to do that myself one day. With that in mind the rest just fell in to place. We wanted a traditional English wedding with a twist, and we were very keen to have a lot of personal touches throughout which I think we managed and really made a difference on the day.”

“It was such an incredible day, there were so many parts that were special. Getting ready with all my bridesmaids, mum, aunt, granny and great aunt was very special and I created memories that I will always cherish.

I loved driving away from the church with my new husband! The whole day is such a whirlwind, it was so nice to have those few moments alone.”

“Apart from that I loved the first dance, we danced to Nathalie Cole ‘This Will Be” and it just felt so joyful and fun… the moment everyone joined it will be one I will never forget.”

FINAL WORDS

Some words of wedding wisdom from our bride, Tory;

“Don’t overthink it! Also, don’t worry about the things you can’t control. eg. the weather! it rained all day for me and I didn’t even notice. In fact we got some really beautiful photos in the rain!”
