I did an appointment with a bride yesterday who was a proper Editor and Author. I made a rather shambolic attempt at introducing my writing skills by mumbling about my blog. I write, but I don’t consider myself a Writer. I blog but don’t consider myself a Blogger.

I have another bride to be, Hannah, shortly to be married, who is more precisely aware my position within the writing/wedding Venn diagram. Hannah works in PR and is involved in The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation & Johnson’s Cleaners campaign the #wedwishselfie. Hannah as something of a PR expert has probably sussed that although my reach is small in numbers my outbursts, overshares & general gobshiteness ensures that lots of the wedding industry read my blog.

I have already donated dresses to the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation – a charity which organises and funds weddings for people with terminal illnesses and life limiting conditions. Naomi Thomas, the founder of the charity set up the foundation after receiving the devastating news that her breast cancer is terminal and decided to devote the remainder of her life helping others to find happiness by fulfilling the wedding dreams of those who are terminally ill.

As a non writer I am not going to try to rewrite a press release to make it sound like my own words. Press releases have better grammar and less use of the F word so you wouldn’t believe it. The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation are fab charity that want a measly £2 of your money – do it I say! Find out more about it here.

Basically – it’s all about a wedding selfie and you have got to love a hashtag! I sit in my home office in the very early morning writing blog posts, in my dressing gown ( Tu at Sainsburys – black fleece fabric about £10 three years ago) . I have searched around for something wedding-y to use as a prop and found Natasha Jane‘s editorial Boudicca tiara. I think it looks mighty fine with the gown & Raybans. Very wedding morning no?

Here is your idiot guide;

Take a selfie – on a wedding day, in a wedding shop, in a wedding business. I am extending the reach of the campaign for them 😉

Share on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram using the hashtag #wedwishselfie

Nominate someone else to do it too – all Team Bush will be following suit!

Then text WISH09 £2 to 70070

Breast cancer has directly affected my family, my friends, my colleagues & amazing wedding industry people who I know and love. It is apparently indiscriminate. It isn’t – it seems to choose the best, brightest and most lovely women. If there is a silver lining to this selection process it has shown their grace under pressure, fortitude and resilience. Please support Naomi’s charity.
