Real Bride Karen Wright in Cymbeline Emea – Beautiful Bride and Mentor

It is not really a secret that I love my job. Not in a weird Mills and Boon/chick lit sort of way. Nor in the obsessive manner of a recent-married bride turning out copies of her own wedding. I don’t think very much about weddings – I’m out of the regular demographic of first time brides and my children are ten years off the entry level. I hope.
I do know dresses, dress deisgners, fashion editors – I know my job. It is performed with passion bordering obsession. Until recently I couldn’t count any other wedding service provider as a friend – I simply didn’t know any.
My customers, brides and their families, have always been dealt with professionally  However, uppermost in my mind, until now, was simply to focus on the bride to be’s wedding dress not her wedding. I have quipped that ‘it is my job to be shallow!’ Whilst the brides’ sweat the bigger issues – the emotions and the politics of a wedding –  I do the dress up. Helping a bride choose her dress, ordering, chasing, checking, fitting, styling;  delivering on my promises has been my total remit.
Poor Miss Bush brides  – the dynamic has just changed radically. I now have an opinion on everything!
Enter bride to be Karen Wright.
Karen is a Miss Bush bride that has the dubious honour of being a first! My first bride-to-be that I communicated with on Twitter. The first bride-to-be who has become an unpaid social media PR Consultant. Poor Miss ‘Newton2be’s appointments were like a tutorial. For me.
Karen has, along with my new found ‘friends’ in other wedding services,  helped me take a giant stiletto clad step on the mysterious path of social media. This in turn has inspired me to look more intently at the work of key artisans on a wedding day – florists, photographers, stylists…
Karen and Craig got married at Cain Manor – I’d heard of it, I knew it was lovely – now I know their Twitter name is @BijouWeddings. Karen’s florist was Steph form Fairynuff Flowers. Now I’ve met her, used her and am recommending her.
I could Tweet a good luck message on Karen’s wedding day to her  when initailly it took me a few days to figure out who ‘Newton2be’ was!
No longer ‘2be’ I am now delighted to share Mrs Newton’s photos of her marrying her dashing groom in uniform, Craig.

So many thanks to Karen for so many reasons and bless her  – the British Army grabbed her husband back the day after the wedding! I hope you and Craig have an amazing honeymoon when you finally get away.

 A few words from Karen…

“Just a proper email to tell you my dress Rocked last Saturday and thanks to you and your mum I looked like a million dollars lol – everyone loved the dress and I even sent a future bride your way lol
Thank you so much for everything you and your team made the whole process work like clockwork and left me with the most dreamy gown and a really happy smile!

we really had a fantastic day and yes my face hurt afterwards lol I thought the guys looked amazing in their bearskins didn’t they all of them looked very smart it was a real honour to have them all there although the military crosses were a little intimidating lol

Craig really loved the dress he thought it was beautiful and believe me for a man who has his suits custom made this is a serious compliment.
Steph’s flowers were so beautiful – I just know you won’t be disappointed in anything she does for you!! “

In Store Event. Carolanne Armstrong Make Up Artist Saturday 22nd October

In my years of experience of seeing brides coming into the shop ‘after’ a make up trial and quietly offering them a baby wipe I am literally so enthusiastic about Carolanne I can’t tell you. Put aside any notions of frighteningly over caked department store make up and think instead dewy fresh complexions, calmly and serenely applied with a look that simply enhances rather than camouflages.

Carolanne is freelance so can come to you for a trial and then travel to your home or wedding venue on the day. In addition she can also tutor you on a one to one basis as to the dark art of blending, perfect products and best avoided.

I am delighted then that Carolanne is my first outside wedding professional to have a Pop-Up shop at Miss Bush. On Saturday I will be inviting any bride that already has an appointment to have a cupcake, a glass of fizz and a mini trial. If there are any brides to be out there without an appointment that would like to step in just to speak to Carolanne please email emma@missbushbridalwear.co.uk and I can arrange a time. Carolanne will have a separate room on the 1st floor so it will not interfere with regular appointments. (Fear not being attacked with a giant brush whilst trying on a frock!)

In addition Bluebell Cupcakes are providing some treats and EFC Photography will be on hand to capture the results.

Jenny Packham Aspen Fetcham Park Styled Shoot

Brides to be – this dress has just arrived in to Bush HQ and is causing a stir. If you love Jenny Packham – you’ll love this. It has Future Classic written all over it. Buyers beware – not a lot of scope for a full bust! Looks like another dress I’m destined not to wear. *sigh*

Jenny Packham Eve – Fetcham Park Shoot. Photography by Eddie Judd Styling By Tigerlily Weddings

I have finally negotiated the method of file sharing called Dropbox which is, in reality, simple enough for a child to use. Or in 21st century terms – simple enough for someone on their 40s to use. I now, therefore, have full access to the stunning imagery created by two incredibly talented women.

I was put in touch with Penny from Tigerlily Weddings by Annabel from Love My Dress. I asked her for a recommendation of top stylist – she suggested Penny. Now to be perfectly frank – Penny was my first experience of a wedding planner and stylist. This is what it feels like…

One is literally swept along, mindblown and wowed all at the same time.  I put the phone down from our first conversation and thought – what just happened there.

The answer, I now know,  is that I  met a creative force of nature. Penny has a knack of ‘getting’ the design look you are after and delivering more than you thought possible. Penny applies this incredible talent and energy to projects be they a small photoshoot like Miss Bush at Fetcham Park, to intimate 60-guest weddings or to huge society weddings that have multiple marquees and more staff than guests. What really impresses me though, is not the grandness of the scale, is how much she cares. Phrases like’ it’s all about the love’ abound and she cares deeply about the experiences she is creating for her clients and their guests.

To be honest I am rather headstrong and demanding. ( Here is where you chip in and protest loudly to the contrary!) It could be hard to think of Penny and I on the same project – and we are cooking up a major fashion show at the moment – but through the shoot and our subsequent meetings I am holding Penny in high regard as tough, resourceful and passionate business woman who you definitely want on your team. Penny not only has the ideas but the strength and know-how to make things happen.

Part One of The Fetcham Park shoot below features Jenny Packham ‘Eve’. Penny’s photographer of choice was Eddie Judd – ‘because she really understands light.’ To be fair – I own up to thinking’ isn’t this a prerequisite of the job?’ Having seen the pictures, and fallen in love with them, I agree wholeheartedly.  Good call from Penny  – great images fom Eddie.

First New Cymbeline Dress – Fatima has arrived

Cymbeline amuse me. This dress is exquisite, light as a feather, channels key trends like spots, lace, non-strapless and layers. Therefore I am sure there are undoubtedly Gallic and passionate reasons why Cymbeline have made they the bodice so sheer one can see skin through it. Stunning with a waif like frame – it’s suggestive not rude.
They have also called it Fatima which undoubtedly sounds better in a French accent…
One person who certainly could wear it is the lovely Bea from EFC Photography. Bea was the first person to try it yesterday and as bonefide bride-to-be she looked stunning.  Bea could work it simply with it’s waist slip and a nude bra. I have a feeling we will making a lining for the dress or bodice – luckily I have the full back up of the Bush Chapel housing my seamstresses extraordinaire!
Don’t be afraid brides-to-be, the dress is a hit – I just need not be cowardly. I’ll just tell the seamstresses they’ll be re-lining every one…
Me – in the ‘talking to the seamstresses’ outfit.

New Arrivals – Jenny Packham Aspen and Laurel

I am a deeply happy Miss Bush today as two of my most eagerly awaited new Jenny Packham samples have arrived to join the new Luna and the existing carry over stock. The Miss Bush Aspen is in ivory as opposed to the advertised silver grey and is every bit as stunning.

Suzanne Neville Rapture Sample for Sale

I apologise unreservedly to any ‘more-to-love’ girls like myself for publishing this image. I would need a full season on ‘The Biggest Loser’ to get a leg in this. However for any 5’10 size 10s out there this would make a fantastic dress for a black tie wedding. The expertly cut bias crepe clings and drapes with a hint of Studio 54 and 70s luxe. It is completely stunning.
Now – do you see the limitations of my buying. I would love to get married looking like a young Jerry Hall – it isn’t a very mainstream desire…
So if you share my love for this AND have the figure to work it you could snap up the sample for a bargainous £1250 as opposed to £2455.

Fancy making like Debbie Harry and spend your night in ‘Rapture’ then ring 01483 222815 or email emma@missbushbridalwear.co.uk Dress now SOLD
