Marcella & Anthony’s wedding was a beautiful fusion of the bride’s Italian roots meeting her new husband’s Scottish heritage. Following 14 years together and a romantic New Year’s engagement, the college sweethearts were married in August last year at St Dunstan’s church in Woking followed by a sumptuous reception at the stunning Elizabethan manor house, Great Fosters in Egham, Surrey.

THE DRESS

Marcella wore Pierce by Maggie Sottero; a classic lace sheath wedding dress, with beautiful intricate lace covering the fitted bodice.

Marcella tells us about her choice, and her experience finding her dream gown;

“It was important to wear something that felt like me and as soon as I tried on Maggie Sottero’s Pierce It just felt right! I’m 5’1’’ and really feared the prospect of drowning in layers of fabric so as soon as I tried this dress it totally fit the bill.”

“I took my mum along with me when I found the dress, it was so lovely sharing that with her and having lots of giggles together, through the disasters to finding ‘the one’.

Now, although there were no tears of joy at finding ‘the one’ and yes ladies that is absolutely OK. The flood gates don’t need to open up for you to know you’ve made the right choice you just need the wonderful miss bush team to guide you on choosing things that just make you feel well just ‘made for you’!”

“My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was the wonderful Corinne – she was a total gem. She really listened to my likes and dislikes and the relaxed atmosphere in the shop made me feel so at ease.”

ACCESSORIES

“I paired my dress with a lace edged veil for a bit of drama for the church and glammed things up with a 20’s style hair accessory by Gillian Million. One of my favourite purchases a pair of champagne Jimmy Choo’s (that I’ve since worn to other weddings).

I kept my jewels simple with some pearl studs, loaned to me by my great aunt in Rome and a pearl drop back necklace I found from an independent supplier on etsy.”

ABOUT THE DAY

Marcella and Anthony created a personal, memorable day, adorned with thoughtful touches to reflect their relationship and celebrate their love. We asked Marcella to tell us more;

“After our first visit to Great Fosters we both knew this place was the one! It had so much character, beautiful gardens and amazing food! Our wedding breakfast was set in the Tithe barn. The perfect romantic setting for our day.

Our inspiration for the day reflected both our cultures. Coming from Italian backgrounds and half Scottish on Anthony’s side.”

“Scottish thistles became my something blue, and I kept the rest quite simple with a relaxed palette of champagne tones and blush pinks.

The personal touches meant a lot to us! My lovely mum very kindly offered to make homemade Limoncello favours using lemons from our family home in Puglia. For the perfect Scottish favour we found a local supplier of ‘Scottish tablet’ close to Anthony’s mum’s hometown, they made sweet little heart shaped versions for us.

I, really enjoyed every minute, but if I had to choose one moment it would be the time Anthony and I had just after the ceremony when we drove to the venue. It was great to take that ‘just married’ feeling in just us and the champagne too!!”

FINAL WORDS

Words of wedding planning advice from our bride, Marcella;

“You’ve heard it all before but seriously, don’t sweat the small stuff! Not everything goes 100% and you really will not care, you’ll be too busy on the high that is your wedding day. Enjoy the little moments together in the day as all the planning will be totally worth it when you are marrying your sweetheart!”
