Well, well! What have we here? Miss Bush has been nominated for an award. The marketing brain behind The Perfect Wedding Awards has selected Miss Bush, along with Mirror Mirror, Morgan Davies, The Mews & The White Room Minchinhampton as short listed candidates for Bridal Retailer of the Year.

This has posed something of a moral dilemma. I don’t feel comfortable putting Miss Bush forward for industry events. Having worked independantly  I am not great at diplomacy. I found an Alastair Campbell quote that fits how I feel about ‘playing the game’ with industry events  “People say they want candour and passion in politics and I was very candid.” Change the politics to wedding industry and it amounts to the same thing. I am very passionate about what Miss Bush does, I aim for fabulous, I don’t mince my words. I find it hard to adjust for the sake of politics. It doesn’t always make for a smooth ride.

I polled the team at Miss Bush and they were keen for me to promote this, so, against my nature I agreed. I aim to be the essence of discretion.

I am assured that the list of boutiques have been picked on merit despite being advertisers with Perfect Wedding.  There is often an air of corporate back slapping about the awards ceremonies.  However – and it is a big HOWEVER – that is quite a damn fine list of retailers that Perfect Wedding have picked. They deserve more than a chummy back slap, they deserve a standing ovation. Maria at Mirror Mirror is a legend, Morgan Davies took on London and won, Gail at The Mews, Clifton is great & The White Room did Zara Phillips dress!

All of us stock & support great labels (ok one of us stocks a label that you can see the barge pole marks in, but in their defence they are new.) I would be happy to recommend all of them and I am pleased to be in their company.

In the list of designers & manufacturers Perfect Wedding have picked wisely – Miss Bush favourites Jenny Packham, Suzanne Neville & Maggie Sottero are all included. The bridesmaids choices include Twobirds & JLM Couture with their excellent customer service. As far as I can see the other categories are well-chosen & meritocratic.

So what will the predictable rebellious stand of the temperamental Miss Bush be?

I will stand by my usual statement that the lists are a ‘thank you’ for our ad spend. It’s just they’re pretty good lists…

I am promoting this for my team. My thanks & praise goes to them. Those brides that have been helped by Corinne, Tegan, Amy, Gina or Little Emma ( which, uncomfortably makes me … er… Big Emma) know that we are very comitted to our job and to making dress shopping a lovely aspect of wedding planning. My gratitude extends to the production team Gen, Janet, Mandy, Helen, Jean, Cindy, Annette without whom we simply wouldn’t have the reputation we do.

If you would like to vote for the Miss Bush team or any other of the fine companies on the list follow this link. Perfect Wedding Awards

If nothing else I promise my acceptance speech will be funny and my loser face more so 😉
